About the Judge

Geraldine Pillinger is a Perth-based creative producer, grant writer, musician, and disability advocate who works across the local government, community, and arts sectors.

Hena Lane Dupreez

From ZZ Top

A highly original and fearless work. The artist draws the viewer into a surreal world with quantum leaps as a subject and composition. The judges enjoyed the artists experimental approach to colours and mediums. In particular, it was a convincing interpretation and captured the feel of the wild musical ride of the band in ‘ZZ Top’ as in the title.

Elizabeth Conquest

Untitled N.5

This work really brings colour, texture and movement together so well. The work invites the viewer into a more meditative space in a commanding and peaceful way.

Nicholas Kirkness

Mozambique Tilapia

This 3D piece is well made and exudes the artist’s love of woodcarving and nature and in this instance, a love of fish. This work has a lot of charisma, cleverly bringing the art material and joy for its subject together.

Our sincere thanks to Geraldine Pillinger for the care, insight and generosity he brought to judging this year’s poetry, and warm congratulations to Hena Lane Dupreez, Elizabeth Conquest and Nicholas Kirkness on their awards.
